Questions

Is this tap tempo tool free?

Yes, 100% free. No sign up and no limits.

How do I find the BPM by tapping?

Play your song and tap the big button (or press Space) on every beat. After a few taps it shows the BPM. It uses your last 8 taps and resets after 2 seconds without a tap.

How many taps do I need?

At least 2, but 6 to 8 steady taps give a much more accurate number.

How do I use the metronome?

Set the BPM with the slider or number box, pick a time signature, and press Start. Beat 1 gets a louder, higher click.

Can I use the tapped BPM in the metronome?

Yes. Click "Use tapped BPM" to send your tapped tempo straight to the metronome.

What time signatures are there?

2/4, 3/4, 4/4 and 6/8.

What BPM range does the metronome cover?

From 30 to 300 BPM.

Is the metronome accurate?

Yes. Clicks are scheduled ahead on the audio clock, so they stay steady even if your device is busy.

I have the song file. Is there an easier way?

Yes. Drop the file into our BPM + Key Finder and it finds the BPM for you, plus the key.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Tap the button on iPhone or Android. Turn off silent mode if you can't hear the clicks.
